ART : Life Or Something Like It

It's only fair to share...Share on FacebookTweet about this on TwitterPin on PinterestShare on Google+Share on TumblrShare on StumbleUponEmail this to someonePrint this page

I’ve been looking for some artwork to decorate my newly rearranged work area and barren walls when I came across www.Minted.com. It’s a website that carries stationary, business cards, gifts, home decor, and cards (i.e. Save the Date, Invitations, Thank You’s!). They work with many different artists from all over the globe to bring customers beautiful and creative lines of products. They also offer an Art Marketplace where independent artists can showcase their work, and people (like you and me) can purchase them in different sizes and/or framed!

This is perfect for me, since I have been looking for artwork. While perusing through their site, I saw quite a few pieces that really stood out. The first one just seems interesting. It’s an abstract piece, but it reminds me of a fabric pattern that would look great for a dress. It’s also inspirational, because at one time or another I had wanted to be an apparel designer!

I really like this next one. I don’t surf, but it makes me think of California (San Diego, to be exact, even though this wasn’t taken from there) and it looks so serene.

TAKEN FROM MINTED.COM ABOUT THE WORK From my series Slick. This mixed media piece combines ink with a photographic print on a wood panel. Photographed at Sunset Blvd and PCH in Southern California. One of my favorite spots to catch long boarders. My favorite time of day is sunset when I catch the California golden light and the tide is high.

This next one comes in different colors! You’ll have to click on the photo to go see what I mean. I’ve taken a liking to the orange piece, which is shown below.

ABOUT THE WORK Down Under the Brooklyn Bridge by JaxRobyn Inspired by a photograph of the Brooklyn Bridge taken at South Street Seaport. I have a huge fondness for timepieces and I love to collect them! So when I saw this piece I knew it’s a piece that I would want on my wall.

TAKEN FROM MINTED.COM ABOUT THE WORK Timeless II by Erin Niehenke I thoroughly enjoy photographing the small, unseen world, and so it was with Pap’s pocket watch - a timeless piece of history. The tiny gears are incredibly detailed and intriguing in this macro photograph. High contrast black and white keeps the photograph traditional while still maintaining a modern edge to the piece.

The next and final piece is probably my most favorite from www.Minted.com. Just like the first piece, it’s abstract and… It reminds me of one of my dresses that I own by David Meister. It’s a really gorgeous piece that stood out when I was scrolling through Minted’s website. The most interesting thing about this piece is that it’s inspired by the polluted Gowanus Canal! To take something that probably looked dirty and disgusting, then turn it into something beautiful is absolutely amazingly creative to me.

I really love that www.Minted.com now offers artwork, because I’m always looking for paintings/pictures for my walls! The other aspect that I like about Minted is that they use artists from all over the world to provide customers a variety of different styles of work and help artists monetize their work. It’s also a website that provides many different products, so it can be a one stop shop for home decor, stationary, photography printouts, etc.

Have you ever tried www.Minted.com?

Oh, gee, inspired by the Gowanus! Too funny. I have driven by it a zillion times, and it was always an eye sore. Love how it became the inspiration for a work of art!!

I really like that Brooklyn Bridge painting! I’ve never used Minted or anything like that, but whenever I buy my first house it’s good to know how to go about decorating it!

Love this post! I’ve never used minted, I’ve gone through a similar site a while back to purchase some lithographs but I may check this site out. Also I chuckled reading the top comment about the Gowanus. As a New Yorker I can agree! I have to say I don’t miss it now that I live in Maryland.

I love how all of these pieces are so different, but all beautiful in their own way! If I had to pick a favourite it would have to be Down Under the Brooklyn Bridge because I love the look of the colours dancing on the water.

I’ve never heard of minted! I love your selections and am heading to the site now to see what they have. I love art but I think my personal favorite is the timepiece, its so simple but intricate and beautiful.

I realize this was 6 months ago, but I’m just coming across it now! Thank you so much for the kind comments on my pocketwatch photo. The pocketwatch was given to my husband when his grandfather passed away, so it has a special place in our hearts, too :)
