When I heard about Attune Probiotic Chocolate bars, I was a little curious as to how chocolate would taste with probiotics. As a chocolate lover (especially dark chocolate), I am always on the hunt for different brands of chocolate to try. A little bit about Attune:

Attune launched in 2006, which included their debut of probiotic bars and probiotic granola bars. They are one of the first shelf stable probiotic chocolate bars on the market with each bar delivering about 4 billion CFUs of clinically supported strains of probiotics. Their bars are also gluten free and are currently available at Whole Food across the nation.

If you didn’t already know, probiotics are active cultures that support digestive health and promote strong immune system and can be found in some dairy products. Probiotics can also be taken in the form of a pill – however, I’m not a huge fan of pills. So I was really enthused to have learned about these chocolate bars.

Attune was gracious enough to send me 6 bars (20g/0.70 oz each), 3 in different flavors. Two of the flavors I received are new to the brand. The ones I received were Mint Chocolate, Milk Chocolate Crisp (new), and Dark Chocolate (new). The other flavor that they just released, that I would also love to try, is the Dark Chocolate Toasted Coconut. Let me just say: ALL THREE FLAVORS WERE SO DELICIOUS! Okay, I just shouted that, but they were absolutely tasty!

ATTUNE

My favorite is Mint Chocolate – it had a well balance of minty taste infused into the chocolate. I’m appreciative of this, because sometimes a Mint Chocolate mix can either be too heavy on the Mint, too heavy in the milk chocolate, or too sugary. Attune’s Mint Chocolate bar was not the case. Plus, this one bar of 20g had only 90 calories! I did not feel guilt, whatsoever after having one whole bar!

My second favorite is the Dark Chocolate – mmm… mmm… mmm… I love me some good dark chocolate bars and this was it. It’s 68% rich dark chocolate, so if you’re a sucker for chocolate with a bit of bitter bite to it, this is it! This bar only has 80 calories and guilt free!

I’m going to tell you right off the bat: I am not a huge fan of Milk Chocolate. For instance, I hate Hershey Kisses and their Milk Chocolate bars; or rather, mass produced cheaply made milk chocolate. Nor do I like Milk Chocolate by itself. THIS was not the case with Attune’s Milk Chocolate Crisp Probiotic Bar. Their Milk Chocolate tasted flavorful and the fun crunchy bits inside the bar are actually organic brown rice crisps! It was so delicious that I forced my mom to try it. This bar has 90 calories.

There is one very odd thing about these bars, that I am going to address. It’s isn’t a bad thing. It’s very interesting or maybe I just have very funky taste buds.. whether it is due to the probiotic cultures or … I’m not sure! I don’t see anything else on their ingredients list that could have caused this, but there is an interesting aftertaste. It tasted like butter. That’s right… the aftertaste had a buttery taste to it. Now this could be me… I’m not sure! It wasn’t a bad thing. It was just interesting.

YUM! chocolate – and a probiotic!? Seems too good to be true! I’ve been taking probiotics for almost a year and can totally tell they are helping me feel better but I’d skip a pill any day and enjoy it in the form of a chocolate snack!! :)

The benefit that most appeals to me is the reduction of gastrointestinal discomfort.
