Title Nine in Portland+Event and Giveaway

Last night, I had the pleasure in attending a blogger event hosted by Title Nine at their store at 1335 NW Kearney Street in Portland, Oregon. We (Portland bloggers) were invited to try out an assortment of bras with the help of “bravangelist” experts and to learn more about their bras + the upcoming event on June 3-4th, 10AM-8PM (more info below).

A little side note about my sports bra history and knowledge. I know diddly squat about them. I would just buy a black or white one, no padding, that squished my boobs and made my nips show. They were also the pullover style without adjustable straps or snaps on the back. At times I would swear a bra underneath them to give me extra support – which, by the way, always rubbed me the wrong way. So I was absolutely thrilled when I met my bravangelist, Maddy – she’s amazing! She asked me the type of workouts I normally do (circuit training, light jogging, walking) and she picked out quite a few sports bras for me that were for medium impact.

She also asked me what size I normally wear – I was actually a little embarrassed about this, because I didn’t actually know. There’s a reason for this: I had a baby 4 years ago and my body has been going through changes. However, I used to be a B cup pre-pregnancy and went up to a C cup. I did, or thought, I went back down to a B after I lost some of the baby fat, but I was wrong. So I self-confirmed that I must be a C (besides, I don’t mind leveling up to a C)! I explained to her my boob situation, but not in so many words. Basically it went like this:

“I used to be a B, but my body has changed so… I’ve been wearing a C.”

Armed with different styles and sizes of bras in Maddy’s hand, we went off to the dressing room area. She explained each bra style and where (if available) to adjust the straps.

The selection of bras Maddy gave me to try on.

Maddy also told me that she’ll be in again to check on me, once I have my first bra on. The first one I tried on is the middle picture in the top row – it’s called 7 Wonders Bra. Unfortunately, they didn’t have my cup size, but she wanted to make sure the band fit me. I really liked this style in that it was full coverage, it had easy velcro adjustable straps, and it was comfortable to wear – however, it was big in the cup because it was a size D. So Maddy went throughout the store to find me a size C. I went forward to try on my next bra and Maddy came back with the light blue bra you see in lower right corner. Basically, for each bra I tried and liked but didn’t fit correctly, Maddy would go back out to find a different size or different style for me to try on. She was super helpful and awesome!

I really liked the pink one you see in the center called Form First Bra (which is actually the same bra style to the left of it), however I was really in love with 7 Wonders Bra and had hoped there was a different color she could find in my size. Lo’ and behold, she came back with a bright colored 7 Wonders Bra in the color celery! I was a bit taken aback by the bright color, but when I tried it on it was a different story. The color actually looks great against my skin tone and it was the perfect fit! I went ahead and told Maddy that that is the bra I want! Talk about great customer service and bravangelist expert!

FYI – I am seriously contemplating going back to get the Form First Bra in black and pink.

I’ve always found sports bras to be very constricting. Have not yet found one that’s very comfortable.
